A skilled researcher and instructor with experience teaching undergraduate courses in consumer behavior, integrated marketing communications (IMC), brand management, digital advertising, and nonprofit marketing, and graduate courses in new product introduction, branding and communications, and marketing management.
Industry experience includes corporate, agency and nonprofit environments leading to a solid understanding of how strategic planning and integrated marketing communications can support business objectives and brands.
Practitioner experience managing corporate branding, marketing communications campaigns, business-to-consumer product introductions, business-to-business marketing strategy, corporate name change, and financial reporting and communications.
Research interests include nonprofit marketing, political marketing, consumer behavior, and persuasive communications. He has published in the Journal of Public Policy & Marketing, European Journal of Marketing, Journal of Consumer Affairs, Industrial Marketing Management, Journal of Consumer Behavior, Journal of Product & Brand Management, Journal of Brand Management, Journal of Consumer Marketing, International Journal of Advertising, Journal of Promotion Management, Journal of Marketing Theory & Practice, Journal of Current Issues & Research in Advertising, Journal of Political Marketing, and the proceedings of numerous conferences.
Previously, Dr. Van Steenburg was the executive director for a nonprofit organization, a visiting professor at James Madison University, and an adjunct lecturer at Southern Methodist University.
